THE EPIC OF SHAKUNI

THE EPIC OF SHAKUNI

The Epic of Shakuni – Part I follows the transformation of Shakuni, youngest prince of Gandhara, from a sharp-minded youth into the master strategist of the Mahabharata. After the political marriage of his sister Gandhari to the blind prince Dhritarashtra, Shakuni’s life changes when he and his family are imprisoned in Hastinapur—an ordeal that leaves him the sole survivor, hardened by grief and driven by vengeance. Using charm and cunning, he gains influence over his ambitious nephew Duryodhana, subtly sowing rivalry against the Pandavas. Through careful manipulation, he engineers the infamous game of dice, sending the Pandavas into exile and deepening the rift between the two royal houses. As alliances form and diplomacy fails, Shakuni orchestrates events to ensure that war becomes inevitable. The book ends on the eve of the Kurukshetra War, with armies gathered, tensions at their peak, and Shakuni ready to guide the conflict he has long prepared for.
